VILNIUS, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) — The Wizz Air flight from Israel’s Tel Aviv to Vilnius which was due to depart on Tuesday evening has been cancelled, according to the website of Lithuanian Airports.
Two Wednesday flights have also been cancelled: the Wizz Air flight from Vilnius to Tel Aviv and the returning flight from Tel Aviv to Vilnius, the Baltic News Service (BNS) reported.
There are also several Lithuanians looking to depart Israel, Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Simonas Satunas told local media LRT RADIO Wednesday morning.
“At the moment, there may be one or several citizens reaching out to our embassy to inform us that they want to leave Israel,” he said.
Meanwhile, nine Lithuanian citizens were evacuated from Lebanon on Tuesday, according to Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry.
The Lithuanian citizens arrived on Tuesday evening on a Ukrainian-organised flight from Lebanon’s Beirut to Rzeszow in Poland. Among those arriving in Rzeszow are mothers with young children, who will leave on Wednesday morning to stay with relatives in Germany, Denmark, and Lithuania.
The Foreign Ministry said it has information about 30 other Lithuanian citizens who have applied for assistance to leave Lebanon. Regular contact is being maintained with these citizens and discussions are being held on the possibility of flying them back to Europe with international partners.
The Foreign Ministry is urging Lithuanian citizens to leave Lebanon while commercial flights are still available, noting that some airlines have temporarily suspended flights to Beirut Airport and that other flights may be cancelled. ■
